That's Christmas-level numbers during the middle of the year. The only bright spot in this slow summer gaming season has been the DS, which continues to sell out in the neighborhood of 200,000 units a month. The biggest news story might not have been a news story at all: a Bloomberg report on a Nikko Citigroup prediction of a 19,800 yen Wii price earlier this week quickly disappeared without a trace (except for here at IGN Wii). The biggest game was The Maid Outfit and The Guns, a Simple 2000 title where you equip and control an android made named Yuki, using guns and knives to defeat your foes. Famitsu didn't publish this week, leaving us without a flying-get Wednesday. With everyone back in their home town these past couple of weeks, the game community grinded to a near halt. Summer in Japan isn't in June - it's in August. Instead of sitting in front of their favorite console, they head back home for the annual Obon festival, where they attempt to revive the dead in order to create an army to populate the next Dead Rising game. In Japan, people don't play games in the summer.
